The International Marina 2009 Conference and Exhibition, to be held in May on Queensland's Gold Coast, will be addressing the big issues facing the marina industries in Australia and across the globe.

The impact of the financial crisis on marinas, leases and access to capital, going green - costs and benefits and dry land boat storage - tackling the supply shortage. These and many other topical sessions will be covered over the three day conference and exhibition at the Gold Coast Exhibition and Convention Centre 25 - 27 May.

Run by the Marina Industries Association of Australia (MIAA) Marinas 2009 is expected to attract record numbers despite the current economic climate. Marinas 2009 Committee Chairman Mike Harvey said the industry feedback he is getting indicates that marina related businesses are ready and wanting to gather nationally at the conference and exhibition.

"They are telling me the timing's good for Marinas 2009. Operators are getting sick of hearing the bad economic news and they what to get together with colleagues to listen, discuss and develop strategies to strengthen their own businesses".

According to Mr Harvey two months out from the conference there is also a clear message marina suppliers want to meet face to face with marina operators. "Many have indicated they have cut back on other promotion but they are saying meeting a large group of prospective customers face to face is cost effective and important in this challenging environment. We have a record number of exhibitors registered including a strong contingent of overseas suppliers" he said.

Marinas 2009 will also see the launch of a range of innovative products and services for marinas including two MIAA initiatives to assist marinas promote and develop their businesses. Details including the full program and registration for Marinas 2009 can be found at www.marinas2009.com
