'16ft skiff 'Fire Stopping'' Manly 16ft Skiff Club
Since 2006, rivals know Manly 16ft Skiff Club means business each time one of its boats contests an Australian championship across a range of classes.

Manly has entered 16 national titles in four years for a stunning success rate of 75 per cent - 12 wins.

The victories have been across the board - 16s, 13s, Flying 11s and Manly Juniors, showcasing the club's strength and commitment to each of the divisions.

This month Manly made it three national 16s crowns in four years when Fire Stopping (James Dorron) took top honours on Lake Illawarra for the second year running.

There were also triumphs in the Flying 11s - Flying Hellfish (Josh McKnight and Ira Dubery) saluting - and in the Manly Juniors with Ashley and Daniel Heyworth aboard MWD.

The 13ft class although did not salute the judge this year- a first for the last 5 years - did achieve the runners up crown with Fluid Building Services (Skye McFadyen & Alana Clancy) trying hard to fend of the eventual winner up until the last race.

It's hard to argue against Manly sailing manager Brad Andrew's view that the club remains one of the premier dinghy outfits in Australia.

'The sailing and competition at the club remains at the highest level in the country,' he declared.

'This is due to the ongoing support of the club's board of directors and sponsors like Bob Oatley from Oatley Wines, G Brothers Mercedes-Benz at Mona Vale and Inner Circle Rum who continue to invest and support the club at all levels of the sport.

'The return is shown each year to them by the club's outstanding results.

'To win the Australian 16ft Skiff title is a hard feat at any time - for our club to win it three out of the last four years is something one is certainly proud of.

'Our commitment to sailing is borne out by the fact we have been successful in winning 12 national championships over the last four years out of a possible 16.'
