Mad Max goes into Warp Drive at National Trailable Mutihull Regatta

''Mad Max's crew hard at work on the way to the win - APC Logistics 2009 Trailable Multihull National Championships' John Curnow

'Mad Max' , the Tony Grainger designed 10 metre catamaran, has confirmed its status as the fastest trailable cat in the land with a stunning effort at the APC Logistics 2009 National Trailable Multihull Regatta on Hervey Bay recently.

Conducted in some of the country's most amazing waters and under what seems to have been perpetually blue skies, it was a great regatta no matter where you finished on the results table. The Hervey Bay Boat Club Yacht Squadron certainly scored points also for holding and running a great regatta.

The crew of 'Mad Max', skipper George Owen, Gary Martin, Pat Considine and David Beeby certainly had a terrific time at the championships, taking out line honours in five of the six races that were held in fairly light conditions.

'We're delighted with the boat and the changes we have made during the year are really paying off and helped with her speed' a jubilant George commented. 'She's now a great all round boat. In Race Three, which was only a three hour race for Mad Max, we completed the course 90 minutes ahead of some boats - beautiful!' the delighted Skipper added, after they had also confirmed a win on Handicap as well.

In Division One, 'Mad Max' was ahead of 'Pork Chop' and 'Bare Essentials'. Division Two saw 'Intrigue' beat 'Multihull Yacht Sales' and 'Coco Loco', while the podium in Division Three was made up of 'Turning Point', then 'Jabiru' and bronze went to 'Sly Little Bear'.
