2:38 AM Tue 6 Jan 2009 GMT This week's London International Boat Show (LIBS) is aiming to tempt millionaires from Europe and the Middle East, as the UK's top builders exhibit more large luxury boats than ever before.
Organisers, National Boat Shows (NBS) say the show will have seven multi-million pound price tagged motor yachts, including a 121ft Sunseeker Tri-Deck yacht worth ?11.5m. The Poole company also has a 111ft yacht worth around ?7m, and Princess Yachts will be showing at least four new boats, including one priced at ?4m.
The London event is banking on the opinions of the world's financial forecasters who have declared the worst of the 'credit crunch' may be over by July, thanks to the changes in the US - Barack Obama taking office and the $675bn stimulus package designed to get the American economy moving.
Exhibitor numbers stand at 500, with hundreds of boats from historic replicas, sailing vessels to modern speedboats and motor yachts.
The smallest, and cheapest, boat on display will be a 5ft children's sailing dinghy costing just ?500 while the largest will be the ?11.5m Sunseeker.
There will be 28 boats on display in the Royal Victoria Dock, which is the same number as last year, but NBS has calculated they are an average of 32ft longer than in 2008.
