Lincoln Crowne 12 Foot Skiff looks to 2011 / 2012 Season
Expert Mergers & Acquisitions advisory firm, Lincoln Crowne & Company™ (LCC™), has confirmed its intent to continue its successful sponsorship arrangement with Jonathan Temple
and Richard Jones in the Lincoln Crowne & Company 12 foot skiff for the
2011 / 2012 sailing season.
“We have had a very successful partnership with Jonathan and Richard over the past 2 seasons, and it great that we can carry that success forward into the next year” Nicholas
Assef, Lincoln Crowne & Company’s Executive Chairman said.
The 2010 / 2011 season was a mixed one for the LCC Skiff. In the lead up to the 12 Foot Skiff Interdominion Championships Jonathan Temple, Lincoln Crowne’s skipper, badly dislocated two
fingers in one of the final heats of the NSW State Championships. A warning on how dangerous the 12 foot skiffs can be. Even with that damage, and fingers heavily strapped, Jonathan and Richard completed the series coming in a credible 4th. An incredible result considering the pain that the injury had caused.
Jonathan’s injury regretably, but understandably, prevented the skiff from competing in the Interdominions in January 2011 at Lane Cove Sailing Club. But Richard and Jonathan were back on the water for the Australian Championships in Queensland, where again the skiff came a credible 4th.
“These guys are exceptional sailors and are highly professional in their dedication to keeping
the skiff on the water – despite setbacks such as physical injury. It is a pleasure for LCC to sponsor them. “ Nicholas Assef concluded.
The 12s have a deep history to the Sydney sailing scene, with the first 12 foot skiffs recorded as competing on the harbour in the late 1800s. Today’s two man high performance race machines are a far cry from the earlier boats which carried vast amounts of sail canvas and were crewed by up to 5 people. Today’s skiffs can reach speeds of 45 km per hour, crash often and are a spectacular site under spinnaker in high winds.
The success of the initiative with the 12 foot skiffs has led Lincoln Crowne & Company to investigate other initiatives with this, and other sailing classes for the 2011 / 2012 sailing season, with announcements expected in the coming months.
