Koh Samui Regatta - day 1

Captain Marty Rijkuris from www.AsianYachting.comreports - Zero breeze in Chawaeng Bay, so PRO Tony Denham moved the startline north and selected courses for all classes that would take the fleet into the passage between Koh Samui and Koh Phangan. The racing class got away only 30 mins late, first into a building north westerly.

The racing class had a 15 mile slog to windward around Ko Tae Nok before the wind eased off and the current turned unfavorable. When they reappeared around the headland Frank Pong's 75ft R/P Jelik had completed a horizon job on the rest of the fleet and successfully took out the daily double of first and fastest.

The two TP 52's went boat for boat until Bill Bremner's Foxy Lady IV edged in front just enough to take second place. Despite being only a speck on the horizon when Jelik finished Ray Roberts DK46 Quantum Racing still managed to correct out in third place in front of his bigger rivals.

IRC 2: Ichi Ban, Baby Tonga, Panic!
Sportsboats: Pornstar, Ice Bucket, Moon Shadow
Cruising: Constanza, Princess Sharda, Big Blue
Multihulls: Dhevatara Frog, Sea Horse Interiors, Cedar Swan

Windward/leeward racing tomorrow.
