The sailors are due to arrive in Sydney with the entire Australian Olympic Team on Tuesday morning and will fly to Hamilton Island on Wednesday, where Audi Hamilton Island Race Week began today.
'As Hamilton Island was the team's principle Australian training venue in the lead-up to the Olympic Games and so many of the Australian sailing fraternity are gathered there for Race Week, it makes an ideal place to welcome the team home,' said Yachting Australia CEO Phil Jones.
'The team has had such fantastic support from the sailing community at home, so it's fitting we share the team's success with people who truly understand what they have achieved and the challenges they've faced.'
At Hamilton Island the team will have time to relax with fellow sailors and will also be given a tickertape parade by the local community, island visitors and crews on Thursday evening after joining the fun at the Whitehaven Beach Party that day.
