Mascalzone Latino, Vincenzo Onorato, was the outgoing, three-time (in a row) World Champion handing the crown over to Jim Richardson's Barking Mad, with Terry Hutchinson calling tactics.
Barking Mad was hard pressed throughout the event by Massimo Mezzaroma's Nerone, who won the first race of the final day, thereby ensuring a 'winner takes all' last race to the championship.
