28th Copa del Rey-Audi Mpaere. Neville Crichton's new Alfa Romeo: Bravo, Bravissimo!!!

Today, Monday 3rd of August, has been the first day of regatta, and the maxi Alfa Romeo (Neville Crichton / Ben Ainsley - NZL) has been first in the two races of the day.

Second place went for the maxi Bella Mente (Hap Fauth - USA) with two second places, and third place for the STP65 Container (Udo Schuetz / Marcus Wieser - GER). Fourth place went for the TP52 CAM (Fernando Leon / HRH Prince Felipe de Borbon - ESP). Fifth place went for the maxi Jethou (Sir Peter Ogden - GBR).

Surprisingly, the last year's winner, the TP52 AIFOS (Armada Espanola / Admiral Jaime R. Toubes - ESP), has fallen down to the ninth place of a total of sixteen big boats.

It is too early to be overly optimistic (this is the first day of a total of six), but it is an excellent start for the Kiwis, who feel the Mediterranean Sea as their own.

Good wind and good luck!
