1:21 PM Sat 24 Jan 2009 GMT It was a case of 'pressure on', 'pressure off' for the large fleet of Hobie 16s in the Sailing Scene International Youth Challenge on Pittwater today.
In northwest winds that varied from five to twenty knots in a matter of seconds even the experienced were caught unawares, with some spectacular capsizes along the course; wind shifts of thirty degrees turned heroes to zeroes and vice versa.
In the Youth fleet, the current youth champion Jason Waterhouse and his crew Lisa Darmannin lead the results, whilst in the Juniors there's three way tussle running between Lucas Price, Christian Renouf and Ejay Schaffer.
In the Open fleet where 'youth' can be a state of mind, local sailors Andrew and Maria Nelson head the results board.
Crosbie Lorimer was out on the water following the fleet and captured these images.
Racing continues tomorrow.
