John Tanton sailed the Thompson 7 Temptation to victory in the Huon Tasmanian Salmon Port Esperance Regatta in Dover over the Easter Weekend. Second in the series was David O'Neill's True Blue from Lyle Borlase's Northshore 33 Twice Five.

The series began with a distance race from Port Esperance out into the d'Entrecasteaux Channel rounding Arch and Zuidpool Rocks and return. Temptation was the first boat to Arch Rock in front of many larger boats but was found wanting on the long two sail reach back to Port Esperance. Line Honours went to Mick Rowley's Planet X from Scott Sharp's Farr 30 Cleopatra. The race was one by John Lewis in the Adams 10 The Saint.

Race two was supposed to be a brief sprint around the bay but light winds turned it into a bit of a drifter. Corrected time win went to True Blue, from Twice Five and Tihany skippered by Julius Szolvik.

Race three was the William Jackson Memorial Cup which dates back to 1887. A light east-south-easterly had filled in which suited Cleopatra which jumped away from the gun. With the breeze shifting back to the right on the third lap Temptation put her huge asymmetric spinnaker to good use and clawed valuable ground back from the Farr 30. Third across was Graham Mansfield's Black Magic while Planet X was unable to repeat its performance of 2009 when it won the trophy.

Corrected time placing went to Temptation from Gavin Rigby's Pacific Flyer and Twice Five.

John Tanton had flown in from Melbourne to sail the borrowed Thompson 7 which he crewed with experienced B14 sailors.

In the Woodbridge Hill Hideaway Cruising Series victory went to Tony Schofield's Patience from John Brown's majestic Herreshoff Windward Star. Justin Barr in Rumbeat was third.

The Huon Tasmanian Salmon Port Esperance Regatta has been held in Dover since 1862 and as such the next event is the 150th anniversary of the regatta.
