2:18 AM Sun 2 Aug 2009 GMT Hobie Multi Europeans - Hobie 16 Women, Hobie 16 Masters/Grand Masters, EHCA Hobie 16 Open Spi Cup, Hobie Dragoon, Hobie 16 SPI Youth - Day One. Two races were done in light southerly winds. Boats took off early after the opening ceremony under brilliant skies. Everybody was pretty excited to see how the lake is. With the tremendous help of many workers the boats were slipped and took off. The race committee had to postpone for a while until the thermal wind was strong and steady enough. So far what we were seeing the two Sicouri sisters pretty far ahead in the women's discipline. It was a wonderful view with the many spinnaker boats coming down to the gate and going upwind again. Now everybody is back to the shore and enjoying plenty of good pasta and beer or soft drink. It is an excellent atmosphere here and those who are not attending now are really missing an exciting event. So now let see if there will be some protests as we saw at least two incidents at the gate with an overlapping situation as well as a couple of mark touching.. Anyhow it looks as if everybody is very happy! For those who are interested in the Tigers, they will start tomorrow for the Nationals! Results not available at time of posting. With more than 270 entries the 2009 MultiEuropeans are taking place in Gravedona, Italy at Lake Como from August 1st until August 8th 2009.
