Hero Nurses Save Sailor's Life and Vanish

'Watchet Marina - Who were the lifesaving nurses?' .
Locals are wondering about the identity of the two mystery hero nurses who ran to the assistance of a 44 year-old sailor who had been knocked unconscious by a falling mast in Watchet Marina in Somerset UK, and then departed the scene when the rescue team and ambulance arrived..

Before help arrived, the two nurses from two different visiting boats and not from the area, thought to be one retired and one practising nurse, rushed to the man's aid to stem bleeding. Watchet Marina owner Tim Taylor said the duo kept him alive.

'They rushed over to help him while he was lying on the pontoon,' he said. 'They were very professional and stemmed the bleeding and administered first aid. They definitely saved his life.'

The Watchet Coastguard Search and Rescue Team then helped the ambulance service administer first aid to the man, who suffered a life-threatening head wound, but the nurses had apparently slipped away. The man is now in hospital in Bristol in a stable condition.

The freak accident happened at about 6pm last Saturday. Reports suggest a boat owner was doing some work on his moored yacht when the mast dropped, striking the other sailor on the head as he stood talking on the pontoon.

Mr Taylor said the boat had been impounded on the advice of the coastguard while an investigation into the cause of the accident was carried out.
