Performance SailCraft Australasia, the powerhouse manufacturer and distributor of Laser in Australia, is offering great deals on new Laser 4.7s for junior sailors competing in this weekend's Sabot National Titles at Gosford Sailing Club. If your kid is rapidly outgrowing their Sabot, and looking to step up to an exciting new class next season, then the 4.7 ticks all the right boxes. And if you order one from Gosford this weekend you are going to bag a serious bargain.

THE Australian Sabot Championships and Sabot Week is one of the largest junior sailing regattas in the country and has already attracted over 150 young sailors to Gosford Sailing Club (GSC). The Northern NSW Sabot Sailing Association has joined forces with GSC to offer a fantastic week long event, with over eighty boats participating in the National Championships and another forty or so expected to race in the parallel Sabot Week regatta.

PSA are backing the event with sponsorship and will also host a special Laser 4.7 Demo Day during the regatta. So if Mum and Dad find themselves feeling a bit wistful as they watch their son or daughter burning around in a Sabot, there's a good chance that they can take to the water in a 4.7 and show Junior how it's done.

Sabot racing kicks off on Monday 28th January with an Invitation Race; heats progress through the week with a well earned layday on New Year's Day (and a chance for Mum and Dad to recover); the next day the kids hit the water again for another two days of heats, with the final presentation at GSC on Sunday 3rd January at 7.30pm.

If you can't be there on the night, results will be posted on the National Australian Sabot Council website:

There are many reasons for Sabot parents to choose a 4.7 as their kid's next boat: it's a simple, highly versatile dinghy that is well suited to life as a club, family or holiday boat. With three different sized rigs, this little beauty can cater for Mum, Dad and the kids. And for the competitive sailor, the 4.7 provides great fleet racing right up to an Olympic level.

Kids can start in a 4.7 from about 35kgs however racing really gets fun from about 50 kgs upwards. Competitive juniors can aim to compete in the highly regarded Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF Youth World Championships or enjoy the great vibe at national and state Laser events.

The Laser 4.7 gives you three boats in one. With the 4.7 the smallest of three Laser rigs, it is completely interchangeable with the larger Laser Radial and the Laser Standard rigs (only the sail and the lower mast are different). Rigs can easily be switched when Junior outgrows the 4.7, a much cheaper option than buying a whole new boat! Just get a new bottom mast section and sail and Junior will be able to enjoy his or her boat for many years to come.
