Glow Boat launches new concept craft

The world's first glow in the dark boat made its official Queensland appearance at the Brisbane Tinnie and Tackle Show, March 20 - 22 2009. And now the technology is available for the industry at large.

Using photoluminescent technology, modified from aviation beacons and created from 'special crystals' according to its inventor, Dr Barry Rogers of Visual Signals, the "Glow Boat' has been in development for over 10 years, (patent pending). The prototype proved to be exceptionally popular, attracting more than 500 people to its display each day.

The glow not only makes it safer to be out in at night but is also used to attract fish. The unique manufacturing process used also ensures that the boat maintains its glow throughout its lifespan.

Dr Rogers is now seeking manufacturers interested in harnessing his invention for marine applications. His Glow Boat will appear on The New Inventors, Friday 27 March on the ABC.
