Three times champion in Match racing, Peter Gilmour, strengthens his team with the Swede Jonnie Berntsson as tactician in Match Cup Sweden. The news was presented at a press conference in Marstrand on Monday morning in conjunction with the start of the fourth World championship stage.
'This will be a fun challenge. It is a strong team and it will be interesting to see how they work', explains Johnnie Berntsson, who sailed as skipper in Marstrand last year.
Peter Gilmour is one of the world's best sailors and he is especially strong in Marstrand. He has won the event six times and is three times champion on the World Match Racing Tour. Now he will be assisted by one of Sweden's best match racers, Johnnie Berntsson, to gain extra leverage in Match Cup Sweden 2008.
'It will be really inspiring to sail with Peter and his team. The first challenge for me will be to establish myself in the team and adapt from helmsman to tactician. I will focus on main sail trim and tactics', explains Johnnie Berntsson.
The Open class in Match Cup Sweden, that has gathered twelve of the world's best match racers, enters its first training session Monday afternoon and starts the Round Robin series Tuesday at 14:00 in Marstrand.
