Geo-location on Sail-World
There's a very subtle but significant change on Sail-World this week.
In Neil Armstrong's immortal words we have 'taken one small step for man and one giant leap for mankind.'
Maybe that is stretching things a little but earlier this week we turned on 'geo-locating' at Sail-World for all our sites world-wide. 
Very simply that means that no matter where you are in the world, when you enter the URL www.sail-world.comour geo-location feature will recognise where you are and set you up with the news stories appropriate to your region.
But you still have the option to change regions and quickly flick around the sailing world to our USA, European, Asia, UK and New Zealand sites and back to Australia.
Geo-location means more relevant content for our readers. Next year we will be delivering different versions of Sail-World for Queensland, NSW, Victoria, even for the South and North Islands of New Zealand.
BTW Sail-World now has a new, faster loading home page which loads much more quickly - within 1-4 seconds.
By speeding up the load time of the home page we are able to fit more stories on each home page and the story count has been increased to 33 stories per page instead of the previous 20 stories, before going into overflow at the bottom of the page, so your Club's great story stays up on the main page for longer.
These developments have already delivered very positive feed back as they improve the Sail-World experience and will ensure that our readership continues its rapid expansion.
We've been racing the clock to make these changes just before one of the pinnacle events in sailing - the Olympic Regatta, and there is no doubt that the Sail-World team will be working hard to deliver the best possible coverage, as we did with the 2007 America's Cup. There will be a million Sail-World Olympic newsletters going to our audience world-wide so we have lots of new advertisers joining our ad decks.
This is going to be one of our biggest months ever, with the Audi Sydney Gold Coast regatta being followed by the Meridien Marinas Airlie Beach Race Week, at the same time we will be with the Aussie team in Qingdao, then back for Audi Race Week at Hamilton Island.
Tomorrow we will be on Sydney Harbour for the start of the Audi Sydney Gold Coast race and next week the team will be at the Sydney International Boat Show. - You will us see most often around the Sailing Stage in Hall 2.
