The Australian National Maritime Museum invites everyone with treasured photographs to attend a special Photographic Conservation Workshop and Clinic on this subject on Sunday, 8 June.
This activity is presented as an adjunct to Summers Past: Golden Days in the Sun 1950 - 1970 , a National Archives of Australia touring photographic exhibition now on view at the National Maritime Museum, Darling Harbour.
The workshop will be open 10 am to 4 pm at the museum, free of charge. Professional conservators from the National Archives and the National Maritime Museum will reveal how to store, preserve, handle and display photographs to maximise their lifespan. They will present information on colour and black-and-white prints, negatives, colour slides, digital images and photograph albums.
Participants are encouraged to bring along their own historic photographs for discussion and advice. The exhibition Summers Past: Golden Days in the Sun 1950 - 1970 has 75 images of Australians swimming, relaxing on the beach and other sunny leisure activities selected from the National Archives' collection.
The Australian National Maritime Museum, at 2 Murray Street, Darling Harbour is open 9.30 am to 5 pm daily.
