Former YSA President dies

The Board of Yachting South Australia wish to acknowledge with regret the passing of our much esteemed Life member, John Parrington.

John was President of Yachting South Australia from 1963 - 74 and 1978 - 81 a long time Board member and Chairman of Yachting South Australia Racing Rules Committee

John served at National level as a Yachting Australia Board Member and as Chairman in 1967 and 1968, was a member of the the National Racing Rules Committee and was an accredited International Judge.

John was a member of several South Australia clubs including Holdfast Bay Yacht Club, where he was 'Commodore for Life', the Glenelg Sailing Club, the Brighton & Seacliff Yacht Club and the Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia.

John was a successful sailor competing at National and International level in Etchells, Flying Dutchmen, International 505s, Tempests and Heavyweight Sharpies to name a few classes. John with crew, Chris Hough won the 1964 International 505 World Championship sailing in Cork, Ireland.

John worked tirelessly as an official and administrator for sailors and sailing Australia-wide for which we are ever grateful.
