The British Association of the Flying 15 class are to trial a new genoa and mainsail over the coming months at open meetings, with new rigs from three of the major UK suppliers being compared. First spotted at Hayling Island SC was this new design from Pinnell & Bax.
Pinnell & Bax, Goacher and Batt sails will provide the new sails and comparisons of the three different rigs will be made over several open meetings, before a recommendation is made to the International association.
In comparison with the standard Flying 15 rig, the new P&B rig appeared to have a longer luff on the genoa and the loose footed main sported a full top batten with an additional short batten supporting a flat top style mainsail head.
The image below shows the present rig.
