The first day of the Sydney 47 Regatta was held on a beautiful Sydney day, with a light northeasterly and enjoyed by all involved. The first race was a close fought tussle throughout the whole race.

With the lead changing many times, John Balderstone's Jem was able to come back from last place after being caught on the wrong side of a wind shift to take first place on line honours and equal first on IRC with Peter Mooney's Endorfin.

Nick Bartels with Terra Firma was able to dictate the second race of the day and had a commanding win over Paul Clitheroe's Balance. After racing, all the crews enjoyed beers and prawns on the dock at the CYCA and swapped stories of the days racing.

The regatta goes down to the wire on Sunday with three windward leeward races scheduled.

Results:

Jem John Balderstone 1.5-3 4.5
Terra Firma Nick Bartels 4-1 5
Balance Paul Clitheroe 3-2 5
Endorfin Peter Mooney 1.5-4 5.5
St Jude Noel Cornish 5-5 10

Thanks to our supporters Sydney Yachts, SLAM, Rag & Famish Hotel, North Sails, Terra Firma, Ullman Sails and B-Sure Boating for their generosity.
