Final placings for Australian contingent at Kiel Week

Final Australian placings at Kiel Week.

Katie Spithill (AUS) elected to race Julie Bossard in the semi-finals of the Women's Match Racing. Three bullets took Spithill straight into the finals.

Nicky Souter and Renee Goeneveld (NED) battled in the other semi-final. Souter eventually triumphed 3-1.

The all-Australian final could not have been closer. Souter took the first two wins, however Spithill never gave in and took the next three and the title.

In the 470 Women's event, young Western Australian sailors Stacey Omay and Chelsea Hall finish fourth overall after winning the Medal race.

Will Phillips and Sam Phillips finished 13th in the 49er class, Euan McNicol and Sam Newton 26th, David O'Connor and Robert Bell 28th and Robert Gibbs and James Garnaut 37th.

In the 470 Men's Sam Kivel and Will Ryan were the first placed Australians finishing 15th. Western Australians Shane Hughes and Felix Paterson finished 21st, and Alexander Conway and Patrick Conway 44th.

In the Laser Women's Radial class Gabrielle King finished 17th.

Star sailors Andrew Landenberger and Simon Reffold completed the event in 23rd place while Paul McKenzie and Philip Toth finished 29th .

Finn sailor Tim Castles finished 51st.
