Expressions of interest are being sought from Australian athletes wishing to be considered for selection for the 2011 ISAF World Championships to be held in Fremantle, Western Australia.

ISAF recently announced the process it will use in allocating additional entries to each nation for the 2011 ISAF World Championships in Fremantle, Western Australia from 3-18 December 2011.

Each nation shall receive one entry per event. Further to this additional entries can be earned through performances at 2010 Qualification Events (as outlined by ISAF). There are then also a number of Commission entries per event that can be applied for via ISAF. Attached is a copy of the memo from ISAF outlining the process for applying for allocation of entries.

As the normal class regulations in relation to qualification to participate at World Championships do not apply in 2011, Yachting Australia has developed a policy statement regarding the selection of athletes for the Australian entries. Click here for a copy.

As part of this process, Yachting Australia is calling for expressions of interest from athletes wishing to be considered for selection for this event.

Any athlete who is not a member of the 2010 Australian Sailing Team or the 2010 Australian Sailing Development Squad who wishes to be considered for selection for the 2011 ISAF World Championships should:
. send an expression of interest,
. enclose a sailing biography detailing their experience and results, and a statement of why they believe they should be selected to attend.

Expressions of interest should be sent by e-mail to Katie.Culbert@australiansailingteam.com.au by Monday 20th December 2010.
