Evolutionary success in Australian Marine Awards

'The Evolution Boats 550 Platinum'
Evolution Boats
Evolution Boats' impressive 550 Platinum has been named Boat of the Year (Fishing Trailerable - Fibreglass/GRP Under 6m) in the 2008 Australian Marine Awards.
The honour was awarded to the Melbourne-based fibreglass boat manufacturer ahead of solid competition from local and international vessels, each evaluated against an exhaustive checklist by a team of independent judges.
Evolution Boats' Paul Junginger (Junga) was excitedly overwhelmed by the award, particularly as the company launched its first boat just a few years ago.
'It's been our aim right from the outset to design and manufacture the highest-quality, purpose-built offshore fishing boats in the country. and this Boat of the Year award officially recognises we've done that,' Junginger said.
'There are absolutely no shortcuts during any stage of our construction process - all fibreglass is hand-laid for ultimate hull strength - and, as serious anglers ourselves, our boats incorporate functional fishing-related features that other manufacturers seem to overlook.
'We knew Evolution Boats would fill a void in the market, but to build such a solid reputation in such a short time is amazing!'
Measuring 6.20m LOA with a 2.49m beam, the Evolution 550 Platinum has a 21? deadrise with wide reverse chines, resulting in an extremely smooth ride while underway and rock solid stability at rest.
With a massive 2.10m internal measurement at the transom - the widest for its size -the 550 Platinum has maximum cockpit fishing space, while the full-height transom has built-in tackle boxes, flush opening doors for easy access to twin batteries, deluxe fibreglass baitboard and a host of other essentials.
A fully-moulded glass windscreen, stainless steel fittings, quality upholstered seats and moulded coamings, full floor and cabin carpeting, hydraulic steering, 150L fuel tank and rated to carry up to a 150hp Evinrude E-Tec outboard, there's no argument the 550 Platinum leaves all challengers in its wake!
