Estate Master wins the CYCA F40 regatta

Lisa and Martin Hill's Estate Master have won the third event in the 2008 -09 Australian Farr 40 circuit, the CYCA F40 Regatta. Estate Master started out the regatta winning the first race and wrapped it up winning the final race and Boat of the Day for Sunday.

The fleet raced four races offshore on Saturday in a southerly breeze that reached 20 knots and inshore for the final two races on Sunday in a consistent 18-20 knot south east breeze. As usual Sydney Harbour provided plenty of action with the fleet negotiating ferries and a number of other fleets racing on this iconic waterway.

'We've raced in 18 regattas in the Farr 40 class so far and this is our first win. We've been very close so many times but this is a sweet victory for us and the Estate Master team. We have a new bowman this weekend and we want to thank our entire crew for their consistent efforts', commented Martin Hill at prize presentation. He continued 'We have had some really tight and tough racing over the last two days and as usual every team gave everything they had and we have enjoyed the competition'.

Helming Kokomo for Lang Walker was former owner Matt Allen. Kokomo won three of the six races for the regatta to finish just one point behind Estate Master and one point in front of Guido Belgiorno Nettis's Transfusion, who currently leads the 2008-09 Australian Farr 40 Circuit.

As usual with the close one design racing it came down to the last leg of the last race to decide who would take away the silverware and Estate Master and Transfusion finished within one second of each other.

'It's been great to be back at the helm of a Farr 40, I've really enjoyed myself this weekend', remarked Allen.

The Australian Farr 40 class would like to thank the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia for hosting the event and Denis Thompson and the race management team for their efforts.
