There are two very Important Things to do before Good Friday

1. Buy Easter Eggs
2. Finalise Entry for Sail Port Stephens !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Entries for Sail Port Stephens close at 5pm this Friday 10th April - Good Friday, after which the Race Committee may take entries, at their discretion, with a late fee ( ouch -the penalties of not being organised on time ! ) of $80.

So save the $80 to spend on Wild Oats Wines, Tooheys New White Stag Beer and SLAM clothing at the regatta, and get your entry in between now and 5pm Good Friday.

In times of GFC (Global Financial Crisis), it's rewarding to be able to say that you've more than doubled the size of your business, and that's exactly what's happened in the Sail Port Stephens office.

From 25 boats in 2008, the fleet for this year's event is knocking on a door that says 60 boats
(at midnight on Monday 6th April, the competitor list was totalling 59 boats..) - some hailing from as far south as Melbourne and as far north as Southport.

Just as rewarding as the increase in numbers is the word on the marina that many of the boats and their crews are making a family holiday out of it, and coming for the entire week of sailing and socialising - or they're creating a short break out of the event - and enjoying a self administered long weekend over the Anzac Day period (24 to 26 April) in beautiful Port Stephens.

For the Sail Port Stephens Organising Committee, the numbers are a positive signal that they are on the right track with the event's structure, and style.

'We've stuck to a simple plan of creating an event that is family friendly, easy on the wallet and budget and offers relaxed, affordable fun in every aspect, both on and off the water 'said Event Manager Jody O'Brien.

Since its inception, Sail Port Stephens has had great resource support from Business Port Stephens, an initiative of Port Stephens Council, and the inaugural group of Foundation Partners in Nelson Bay Diggers, All Seasons Salamander Shores, Peppers Anchorage and Shoal Bay Resort and Spa have, even in tough economic times, all continued to believe in the long term vision for the regatta and what it brings to the region.

International sailing clothing brand, SLAM, continue their support as the Official Clothing partner, and newcomers to the Supporting Partner group for 2009 include Wild Oats Wines as the Official Wine Partner of the Regatta and Tooheys New White Stag - full strength low carb beer, as the Official Beer of the event.
