Following on from the success of the previous seasons, the events for the Elliott 7 2008/2009 Grand Prix series have been set. The 2007/2008 season concluded with the tightest of finishes with Jim Walsh's Woof edging out Angus Reid's Humungus by 1 point in the overall point score. A total of 22 Elliott's competed in the seven event series which covered regattas in Victoria, ACT, NSW and Queensland.
The Grand Prix kicks off with the State Titles at Toronto and includes regattas in Jervis Bay, Canberra, Sydney and Batemans Bay. Recognising the continuing growth of the Queensland fleet the Australian titles are to be held by the Wynnum Manly Yacht Club over Easter with many boats planning to take advantage of the warm Queensland winter and compete in the Bay to Bay, Wintersun and Airlie Beach events.
The Elliott 7 class has continued to grow strongly and is the largest one design sportsboat class in Australia. The design also has a very competitive SMS rating allowing owners to sail in mixed fleets broadening the attractiveness of the class.
