Starting Friday 31st October to Sunday 2nd November The Spit, Marine Stadium - Main Beach - Gold Coast ' 'fastest show on water'
The F1 Superboat Series Management team will stage the 2008 Superboat Spectacular, and in conjunction with the Australian Power Boat Association and the UM General Assembly will take this opportunity to showcase our World Class sport. Powerboat racing is one of the most thrilling and dynamic motor sports with many events allowing spectators to see the entire circuit. With speeds up to 240kph, an exciting programme is promised every time.
The Australian F1 Superboat Series Grand Final incorporating the 2008 Superboat Spectacular and the UIM Annual General Assembly, is being staged on the Gold Coast the weekend after the Nikon Indy 300 with the The F1 Superboat Grand Finale and Superboat Spectacular included as an Official Indy Off Track Event.
The volume of classes will include the F1, F2, Mono's, Jet Skis, Juniors, Offshore Powerboats, Full Blown Inboards, 6 litre Class, and a host of other promotional racing over the weekend as well as displays and presence from the International Delegates from between 65-75 International Power Boating countries and some of the F1 World Series drivers - most of whom will be here for the first time to attend the UIM Annual General Assembly with the potential of securing and staging an F1 - F2 International Round as early as 2009/2010.
We are anticipating crowds upwards of 15 000 over the course of the week, including all relevant functions. A myriad of hospitality functions are in place including the Official UIM Welcome Cocktail Party on the Q1 Observation Deck with attendance from some of the World's current champion drivers and local dignitaries, UIM Gala Dinner to be hosted at Sea World Nara Resort, the Preliminary Heats and Official crowning of the 2008 Miss F1 Supergirl Quest (the 'Miss Indy of the Water') with the winner taking home more than $10 000 in cash and prizes and become the face of the F1 Superboat 2009 Series), entertainment on/off site - all generating local, national and International media exposure.
This only touches on the number of activities surrounding this event and may also prove attractive to medium-large corporations via networking and hospitality opportunities (entertaining key clients/staff/guests within our exclusive VIP Marquees) as well as involvement through corporate sponsorship of the Event.
The three day Grand Finale will consist of a Media Day on the Friday 31st October showcasing these magnificent high powered machines , followed by an Official Offshore Powerboat Race on the Friday afternoon, and then a two day Powerboat Spectacular including Round 7 of the F1 Superboat Series and featuring all the top classes that compete around Australia. as well as having different activities through out the day including Scouts Australia parachute Jump and several other demonstrations.
These classes will include the high powered F1 Superboats, Formula 2000, Stock Mono Hulls, Jet Skis, Blown Alcohol Displacements, 6 litre, and also the up and coming Junior Racers. Other support classes make up a jam packed program of high octane action, providing brilliant value entertainment for racing fans and families alike. Not only are we anticipating this event to attract around 100 competitors and it is expected to be one of the most patronised powerboat meetings in Australia.
It will draw thousands of people including teams, supporters, racing fans and spectators from all over Australia and New Zealand. To add to the large international exposure, an invitation has been offered to International Drivers to take part in a challenge during this event using Australian crafts. Considering the event will be witnessed by such a large contingent of International spectators it will be a perfect finale to the General Assembly with all UIM delegates transported to the event location on Sunday once the General Assembly has been drawn to a close.
Over the past few years the growth of Power Boat Racing has grown significantly due to the increasing number of Major National Races being held throughout Australia. As this is a first for both the F1 Superboat Series followers, Australian Power Boat Racing fans, and Offshore Classes, having the opportunity to witness a combination of these classes it is anticipated that the attendance over the three days would be one of the largest expected for a Power Boat Race.
Australia's elite Competitors are expected to compete and joining them are crews and associates attracting over 600 attendees. Combining these figures makes available a considerable opportunity for a major spectator attendance over the three days. The Australian F1 Superboat Series and Power Boat Racing in general, reaches a highly desirable target demographic of fans, consisting of a strong mix of male, female and families alike.
At most power boat races a strong attendance by whole family units far exceeds those of other forms of motorsport.
