Local dealer principal, Bruce Partridge and Mustang Marine general manager, Chris Heaton played the role of genial hosts to the gathering, described as the largest single group of Mustang boats seen on Gold Coast waterways.

More than 30 Mustang owners, families and guests on board, took part in the inaugural Mustang Couran Cove Christmas Escape, comprising a packed weekend of fun, festivities and boating related activities.

The Couran Cove Resort proved an ideal location for the weekend, with early arrivals berthing at the resort's marina from mid day Friday.

Local seafood and ice-cold beverages were delivered to the vessels and party time ensued throughout the evening.

The following morning, the flotilla moved out of the marina into the Broadwater, but strong winds forced a postponement of a planned 'raft up' off Wavebreak Island.

It did not stop those who undertook some angling off the coast while others made the most of berthing and bar crossing tuition provided by Mustang Marine's skilled helmsmen.

Guests were later taken to a 'secret' location, which proved to be the Couran Cove Surf Club, for the gala dinner, with entertainment from a magician and local group 'Champagne Jam.'

Needless to say, the evening's highlight was the arrival of the main man, Santa Claus.

Many kept the celebrations going back aboard their boats, and the marina was in full swing until late in the evening.

Wind had dropped off on the Sunday morning, and the flotilla was able to assemble off Wavebreak Island for a final photo shoot after being 'buzzed' by a helicopter from Gold Coast Heli Tours.

Chris Heaton said the Couran Cove celebration was the first of a regular event calendar the company has put together for Mustang owners.

"This will include events at key locations around the country and are part and parcel of the new direction for Mustang Marine," he explained. "Our focus is on ensuring our owners have the best possible boating experience available to them, today and in the future.'
