New Zealand's Busfield Marine Ltd has secured the agency for Bavaria Yachts. Bavaria, which is the biggest selling production yacht in New Zealand, is one of the world's most popular brands of sailboats, with annual sales of 3500 yachts. Over 90 Bavaria yachts have been sold to Kiwis since the brand first arrived in the country, 8 years ago.

Busfield Marine managing director, Bill Rutherford says the reasons for the Bavaria's success are obvious. "They are exceptionally good value for money, perform well, are very robust and very easy to sail. They are 'cockpit controlled', ideal for New Zealand conditions and have very spacious interiors.

"This makes a Bavaria an ideal first yacht for those new to sailing and a very popular yacht with more experienced sailors.

"At least one New Zealand-owned Bavaria that I know of has even completed a full circumnavigation of the world."

Rutherford says the various Bavaria models have proved popular with those wanting a yacht for their own private use and with those looking for a robust, sturdy vessel in put into charter.

Busfield Marine will be offering both ranges of Bavaria yachts: the Cruiser range, with eight models from the 31 to the 51; and the more performance-oriented Vision range, consisting of a 40, 44 and 50. They will also offer the new Bruce Farr and BMW-designed range of larger Bavarias when these are released next year.

All new Bavaria yachts sold through Busfield Marine will come with a full standard two to five year warranty.

Busfield Marine's sister company, Nav Station, will continue to offer competitive, purpose-designed, electronic packages for every new Bavaria and experienced contractors Neil Cullen, Mark Thetfords and Steve Ashley will continue to commission the yachts when they arrive.

Busfield Marine has already hosted a meeting of existing Bavaria owners and Rutherford says they intend to involve these owners even more in the future.

"Existing owners are an important part of the Bavaria network in New Zealand. As a result of our meeting, we are looking forward to keeping in touch with them through cruising weekends, regular newsletters and other promotions," he says.
