Australian 16ft Skiff Championships Race 7, the final race, was sailed on Saturday 9th January in an 8-14 knot easterly breeze.

After one general recall the fleet got away on the second start, however, five skiffs were disqualified for being over the line and failing to return. They included the Australian Champion, 'Fluid Building', who, fortunately for them, had sealed the series with after the sixth race.

Three Belmont boats went to the lead early, picking the breeze shifts up the first work to windward. 'Mitre 10 Kurri Kurri', sailed by Kieran Humphries, was the early leader, however, as the race progressed they were overtaken by 'OAS' (Danny Anderson) and 'AB Window Fashions' (Ben Bruniges). 'OAS' went on to win by 17 seconds from 'AB Window Fashions', with a further 17 seconds to 'Mitre 10 Kurri Kurri'.

Although disqualified in the final race, the overall winner of the series was 'Fluid Building' sailed by Clint Bowen, Anthony King and Brent Dennis from the Manly Club.

Clint previously won the Championship in the 2005-06 season. Finishing on 22 points with placings of 2-5-7-1-4-3-OCS, consistent sailing was the secret to their success.

Runner up in the series was Belmont boat 'Mitre 10 Kurri Kurri' sailed by Kieran Humphries, David Johnson and Andrew Stone. They finished on 30 points with placings of 8-10-1-2-6-19-3. Third place went to 'OAS' sailed by Danny Anderson, Murray Atkins and Sean Harrison. They finished on 33 points with placings of 11-12-3-17-2-4-1.
