Day 1 racing of the 2009 Association Cup was sailed in light conditions on Port Phillip Bay, with competitors from Royal Yacht Club of Victoria, Royal Brighton Yacht Club, Sandringham Yacht Club, Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron and Hobsons Bay Yacht Club.
After a three and a half-hour delay due to light winds, conditions improved allowing commencement of racing at 1:35pm for IRC A and AMS A and at 1:40pm for IRC B and AMS B.
The winners on handicap in each division:
IRC A - Executive Decision : Grant Botica (RYCV) AMS A - Wake : Athol Lidgett (RYCV) IRC B - Surprise : David Ellis (RYCV) AMS B - Top Gun : Max Peters (RYCV)
Day 2 continues tomorrow on Port Phillip Bay with a forecast similar to that of today, northwest to southwesterly winds at 5-10 knots.
