The final match of the day between Alinghi and Luna Rossa was expected to be a close affair with two very experienced America's Cup helmsmen involved in the form of Ed Baird and Peter Holmberg.

However it was not be, as Alinghi and Luna Rossa came back to the Committee boat from above the starboard layline, and early for the start, Alinghi fishtailed Luna Rossa responded once, then tacked for th Committee Boat leaving Alinghi to start on the button, on starboard and heading for the City side or southern side of the course.

A regulation cross to cover saw the Swiss over 60 metres ahead, and the proceeded to work Luna Rossa out to the port side of the course, packing in another 50metres of margin to lead by over 100metres around the first mark, or 30secs.

From there it was a procession with Alinghi taking an easy second win of the series, giving her equal top spot on the points table along with Emirates Team New Zealand.
