 | | 'Evolution Boats 550 Platinum was named Boat of the Year (Fishing Trailerable - Fibreglass/GRP Under 6m) in the 2008 Australian Marine Awards'
Evolution Boats | BIA and Marine Queensland members have received invitations to attend a workshop in either Sydney or Melbourne to participate in the review process of the Australian Marine Awards.
Chris Barnett & Associates will conduct the workshop and independent review process.
In past years, immediately following the Australian Marine Awards Ceremony every member of the BIA/MQ received a survey form inviting them to give their suggestions on how to improve the awards.
Some members may have received up to four entries to comment because, AIMEX and MIAA were asked to send the survey out as well as AMIF sending it to the actual entrants and dinner participants.
With every survey went an invitation to be a member of the industry reference group which was constituted annually to discuss the results of the survey and decide on any improvements or changes to the awards for the next year.
The reference group met by teleconference so geographic location became irrelevant. All suggestions from the survey were considered and, wherever possible, incorporated in the awards administered by AMIF, for the following year. Hence, the evolution of the awards from 2002-2008. Those who have been regular entrants will have noted changes to entry processes/judging from year to year.
In 2009, however, a fresh approach to the review of the awards is being trialled so the 2010 awards can be planned by AMIF, secure in the knowledge that the majority of the industry has given its support and approval. AMIF is asking members to take the opportunity and attend either the Sydney or Melbourne workshop.
Given that the awards have included not only manufacturers, but importers, marinas, exporters, houseboats and innovative products, there is a fairly even spread of entrants/stakeholders across the nation. AMIF said, ideally a workshop in each state would have been the preferred option.
However budgetary constraints and the need for maximum participation have dictated the selected venues. All BIA/MQ members are encouraged to attend, but if that is not possible, can email Ms Chris Barnett direct (chrisbar@eim.ae) with comments.
Barnett will produce a report on workshop outcomes, complete with recommendations, which will be available for downloading from the AMIF website on 1 July 2009 www.amif.asn.au
