AMIF Awards on the radar for 2010
Following the 2008 Awards, coinciding with SCIBS, the AMIF Board will meet to discuss the future of the Awards, their format and direction.
According to Barry Jenkins, President of AMIF, the AMIF Board meeting on 15 July in Brisbane will be the ideal opportunity to analyse the Awards and assess how and when they will be held again.
"It seems we will be taking a break. There will be a review process and then a Board meeting from where we will sit down and pull it apart and look at it. We very likely could suspend the Awards for a year, to enable us to iron out the perceived kinks.'
But Jenkins is adamant that the Awards will be retained and that any issues need to be addressed by the industry as a whole, with all stakeholders contributing to the formation of the reincarnated Awards.
"As far as I'm concerned and on behalf of my fellow directors, we intend that the Awards continue and they are industry based for the industry, as recognition of excellence.
'We need to ensure everybody understands they are totally transparent, accessible and if anybody has any queries, they can find the information they need from AMIF."
