Popular sailing event, Skandia Geelong Week, has the chance of becoming one of the top 101 tourism experiences - thanks to a new campaign by RACV and Tourism Victoria.

'Victoria 101' provides an opportunity for people to vote on their favourite tourism activities and experiences. America's Cup legend John Bertrand AM is urging sailors to vote for their sport.

'This is an ideal opportunity to generate awareness and instill interest in our sport" said Mr Bertrand. 'Skandia Geelong Week is a unique regatta of its type anywhere in the world. First held in 1844, this regatta predates the America's Cup and is now a world class event attracting over 100,000 people each year.

"I encourage all sailors along with their family and friends to show their support" Bertrand continued.

For those interested in voting, please visit www.101victoria.com.au. There's also the added incentive of prizes for those who take the time to vote. RACV are giving away monthly $1000 travel vouchers, simply by voting and commenting on the experience you'll go in the draw to win.

The website will provide real-time updates of the rankings and detailed information on all experiences over the period of the campaign. The campaign will continue until the middle of August, with a one hour prime time special to be shown on Channel Nine's Postcards program in September.

John Bertrand AM is Patron of Skandia Geelong Week.
