The upcoming Etchells New South Wales Championship, being held the 26th - 28th of February, will have a number of champions in the entry list including Etchells 2004 World Champion, Peter McNeill, who won the World Championship title in Mooloolaba. McNeill will be sailing Absolute Pearler with his crew Wade Morgan and Dean Williams both of whom sailed with McNeill in January at the Etchells Australian Championship.

'The NSW titles being raced on the offshore course on Manly circle is one of the incentives for sailing next weekend. The last time I sailed on an Etchells on the Manly circle would have been the 1984 Etchells worlds so the NSW Championship will be an ideal opportunity for a course refresher for when the 2012 worlds are raced there. I will be sailing with my long time crew member Wade Morgan and also with Dean Williams', said McNeill as he headed to Sydney for the AC/DC concert.

Teams from South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales will be taking advantage of the opportunity to sail on the waters where the 2012 Etchells World Championship racing will be conducted.

Jan Muysken, Sydney Fleet President invited all Etchells owners to take part in the upcoming event, 'We are looking forward to some great racing on the race course on the Manly Circle just off Manly Beach. Many of the Etchells who raced at the Australian Championship will be lining up for this event and it should be a great opportunity for the Etchells to sail offshore in preparation for the Worlds being hosted in Sydney in 2012. The crew from the boats that came first and second in the 2009 Etchells World Championship will be combining to compete on Barry in this series'.

Victorian Ian Johnson and his team sailing Banana's in Pyjama's will be joined by fellow Victorian Damien King who will be sailing Barry with a crew made up of sailors who finished in the top two places in the 2009 Etchells Worlds held in Melbourne.

King commented 'We will be sailing in a one off crew combination of myself, Jason Muir and Paul Wyatt both Queenslanders who finished first at the 2009 Worlds and Andy Gough another Queenslander. It's an unusual opportunity to sail with some of my major Etchells competitors and it is providing an opportunity for us to learn from each other. I'm keen to sail on Sydney's offshore course as I've only ever sailed Etchells in the Harbour. We are going to Ireland for the 2010 Etchells Worlds so the more class sailing the better'.

Entries for the 2010 Etchells NSW Championship close Friday 19 February, for more information or details on entry please go to www.etchells.org.au/sydney/states/
