Albert Sailing Club's annual Inland Waters regatta is being sailed on Albert Park Lake on Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st June.
Sailors of monohull off the beach class boa>ts from Victorian and interstate clubs are invited to join the host club's fleet for this regatta. The event usually draws around one hundred boats spread across senior and junior monohull classes including the Impulse, Laser, OK, Pacer, Sabre, Optimist and Minnow classes.
The regatta will follow a short race series format with races in three sessions on Saturday pm, Sunday am and Sunday pm. The initial information session is scheduled for 1pm on Saturday 20th, with the first start for Division 1 classes at 1.45 pm.
Courses will be sailed in the northern half of the lake, and will generally be triangles or trapezoids depending on wind direction and conditions. As at mid May the water level in the lake is below its maximum, but is fine for racing with centreboards raised a few centimetres.
Regatta documentation including the Notice of Race, Entry Form and Sailing Instructions are available from the Albert Sailing Club website This event is part of Albert Sailing Club's winter sailing season which commenced in early May and continues through each saturday until the end of September. Albert Sailing Club is located in the north-western corner of Albert Park Lake, South Melbourne (Melways reference 2K, G6 with entrance through the memorial gates at corner of Clarendon Street and Albert Road) The club has a large well-appointed clubhouse with full facilities for sailors and their support crews. A canteen will operate at lunchtime on both days of the regatta. Spectators are well provided for with close-up viewing of the racing available from the clubhouse and the northern shores of the lake.
