The 2008 Melbourne to Hobart Westcoaster, Eastcoaster and Launceston started in ideal conditions off Portsea today.

Following the start, spinnakers were quickly hoisted, with Shortwave making the most of the conditions, opening an impressive lead within the first 15 minutes.
