The Water Police on the Queensland Gold Coast are certainly no friends of the boating industry. Not content with having banished Formula 1 powerboat racing from the Gold Coast, organisers have now cancelled two important wakeboarding events, while the 2011 Australian Wakeboarding Championships are now at risk of being moved elsewhere. Reason given has been described as the 'ridiculous' fees imposed by the Water Police to monitor the events.
