UK Zapcat Racing Championship gets new Pilot

This morning Clipper Ventures Plc announced the sale of the Assets and Brand of Zapcat Racing to Martin Jupp the Managing Director of ZCR Ltd.
Martin Jupp himself an ex Zapcat racer, is also the Managing Director of Vortex Racing Ltd - the UK's leading Zapcat Dealer and Zapcat Experience / Events Company and whose race team are current National Zapcat Champions.
Martin said, "This is great news for both Clipper Ventures and ZCR as it allows Clipper to concentrate on their core business of major yachting events including the Clipper 09-10 Round the World Yacht Race and for ZCR to market and develop the Zapcat Racing series further in the UK and Europe."
When Clipper Ventures Plc, the marine events company founded by Sir Robin Knox-Johnston announced in January that they were selling Zapcat Racing, there was concern amongst the powerboat racing fleet, that it was not only the current economic climate that could affect their summer racing.
Martin commented "The team have been working around the clock over the last couple of months to secure this deal and we could not have done this without the commitment and support of several key members of the Championship organising team."
"With new sponsors already on board, a race calendar to be shortly confirmed, as well as some final touches to several Special Events that include, Long Haul and Endurance racing, it is going to be a very busy start to April and a very exciting new era for Zapcat Racing. We hope the existing racers will be right behind us as we aim to expand the championship and take the series international"
Zapcat racing in the UK has established itself as the World & RYA's largest one design powerboat championship offering normal everyday people the chance to compete in this adrenaline fuelled extreme sport with out costing the earth.
Once again in 2009 the Zapcat National Championship will see the racers battle it out for the coveted title of Zapcat Champions and Kings of Surf as the competition comes to a beach near you this summer.
