#44 Iko Casa pilot Shelley Jory has vowed to put the disappointment of the Endurance race in Italy firmly behind her as she looks forward to competing in her maiden race in Sweden.
The Iko Casa boat failed to register a single point after sustaining a problem which saw the all-female crew of Audrien Ciantar and Jory only complete nine of the 12 laps.
'We found out what went wrong with the boat on the Sunday night after the race. Basically, it was a problem with one, simple $10 wire on the ignition system. The wire came loose and fell off which stopped the engine dead.
'We tried time and again to re-start the engine in the hope that perhaps a bit of water had infiltrated the engine but it was to no avail. It was just a very simple mechanical malfunction. It was a frustrating race as it ultimately cost us a very strong third place finish.
'The mechanics are going to take a closer look at the engines - the Mercury engine we are using is now in its third season of racing.'
Jory is looking forward to Sweden immensely. 'I have never been to Sweden in my life and it should be an exciting weekend. We have even got tickets to the Madonna concert which is taking place on the Sunday night which should be fun after a day of racing.
'There will be seven of us going to the concert, including Aaron [Ciantar] and his wife as well as Audrien and her boyfriend. It should be fantastic.'
Iko Casa currently sit in fourth position in the SuperSport class of the Powerboat P1 World Championshop with 451 points, 32 behind third placed #17 MasForce.
