Scorpion RIB wins trophy for fastest production boat

A World class RIB from manufacturer Scorpion RIBs wins the trophy for the fastest production boat in a grueling 2010 Cowes - Torquay Offshore power boat race.
In the 50th Anniversary year of the well known and internationally revered Cowes-Torquay-Cowes Offshore power boat race, a production Scorpion Sting achieved 1st in class, 5th overall and wins the fastest production boat trophy.

"Grey Ghost", is a factory spec 10m stepped hull Scorpion Sting driven by the owner Phil Boarer, in his first major race at the helm and Martin Mundy navigating.
A staggering result especially considering the power of the competition and really shows the ability of Scorpion RIBs to maintain higher average speeds for longer periods in adverse weather -
1st. Red FPT 2,400hp
2nd. Fara Coll 1,300hp
3rd. Fury 1,400hp
4th. Cinzarno 1,450hp.
5th. Grey Ghost 630hp
6th. Warhorse 1,400hp
7th. Uno 1,800hp.
The 178 mile race lived up to expectations with poor weather and rough seas making for dramatic racing from start to finish.
Grey Ghost was built in 2009 and has a standard pair of Yanmar 315hp diesel engines. In June this year, it also completed the Great British Rib Rally with 12 days continuous running around the entire British Isles.
The Scorpion Sting is available in Australia and New Zealand through Scorpion RIBs Australia, featuring twin berth, heads and galley. oh yes and race winning performance!
