Roadside check snares alleged out of season marron fisher

Department of Fisheries - The next marron season doesn't open until Saturday January 8 and Fisheries and Marine Officers are already on patrol to prevent illegal fishing of WA's unique freshwater crayfish. As a result a 44-year old Bunbury man is due to face the Busselton Court, early in January (2011), for allegedly being in possession of 48 cooked marron, during the closed season. The man has now been formally charged, after being apprehended during a joint Police and Fisheries roadside check on the Vasse Highway near Nannup on Sunday (7 November 2010).
