11:56 PM Mon 15 Jun 2009 GMT Australia's largest luxury boat builder, Riviera, will unveil its latest step in the technology revolution with the launch the new 5000 Sport Yacht at the Sydney International Boat Show beginning on Thursday, July 30.
The Riviera display at the Sydney International Boat Show will include 15 boats, offering a comprehensive range of Flybridge, Sport Yacht and Offshore Express models valued at more than AU$20 million.
Powered by twin Cummins Mercruiser turbo diesel engines linked to the revolutionary Zeus pod drives, this new model builds on the extraordinary success of the Riviera 4700 Sport Yacht that won the AMIF Boat of the Year award in 2007.
The new 5000SY joins a fleet of Riviera Sport Yachts that have achieved unparalleled success both in sales and awards for the company.
Beside the 5000SY at the Sydney show will be the exciting new 5800 Sport Yacht that caused a sensation during its launch at the Sanctuary Cove show in May, achieving sales of seven boats during the shortened three-day event and drawing long queues of enthusiastic boaters.
Riviera CEO John Anderson said: 'The success of the 5800SY launch demonstrates that the right boat excites the market. We have strong expectations for the new 5000 Sport Yacht and we are sure that the Sydney market will also embrace both new models. They are perfect boats for Sydney Harbour and for running along the spectacular coastline.
'Riviera is continuing to develop exciting new models across our range as well as offering enhancements to our popular models,' he said.
The new 5000SY is powered by two Zeus drive systems. Zeus is an integrated system of marine diesel engines and steerable drive units mounted under the hull with twin counter rotating, aft-facing propellers. This system offers easy handling and manoeuvring even in tight situations and a joystick for easy docking. Cummins claims up to 30 percent improved fuel economy as well as 15 percent faster cruise and top speeds over conventional drive units.
The 5000SY is the fifth member of Riviera's European-style Sport Yacht family and replaces the shaft drive 4700SY.
The new boat maintains and expands on the single-level lifestyle design of the Riviera Sport Yacht line, including an aft galley and stainless steel pillarless aft bulkhead door and fold-up awning window that opens the saloon out into the cockpit.
Riviera will also unveil an exciting new option for the highly successful 51 Flybridge series - triple Volvo Penta IPS pod drive units. This new model also includes a revised interior and a redeveloped flybridge. Inside, a large space under the saloon can be used for storage or can include a crew cabin complete with ensuite bathroom. The new design enclosed flybridge includes a wrap-around forward dash and helm station. A companion helm chair has been added on the starboard side alongside the central helm chair. A curved lounge to port extends forward to meet the dash. A full wet bar is positioned behind the lounge. Two large slide-open hatches have been incorporated into the hardtop on either side of the central hatch to provide additional natural light and ventilation. A solid teak floor further enhances the warmth of the new flybridge design.
The latest generation of the successful Riviera 47 Enclosed Flybridge will also be on display, including a new interior design. It features a new high gloss timber dinette table and timber cabinetry. The saloon wet bar now has a solid surface benchtop, single drawer fridge and a garbage bin.
Sydney visitors will also have an opportunity to view designs for Riviera's newly-announced line of Motor Yachts. A special display area will show detailed drawings of all three new models - Riviera 73MY, 78MY and 85MY. The design team for the new long-range cruisers will be on hand at the show to answer questions and discuss options with clients.
R Electronics and R Desalination will have a large working display of the latest marine equipment including thermal imaging cameras, desalinators and navigational electronics while Riviera Syndication will celebrate its new Sydney office. As well as offering shares in a new 5000 Sport Yacht, a 38 Flybridge and 5800 Sport Yacht, all to be based in Sydney, the company will also be promoting its recently announced Mediterranean 5800 Sport Yacht syndicate.
