Antonio Schiano and his RG87 team have announced that they will be among the SuperSport line-up for the 2010 Powerboat P1 World Championships.

During the mid-1990s, Schiano achieved great success alongside the legendary Sergio Carpentieri and competed in a number of prestigious events including the Napoli to Monte Carlo race and the Venice to Monte Carlo twice. The highlight of his racing career came was when he was crowned champion of Italy back in 1998.

The Italian will also be accompanied by his son Giuseppe and is looking forward to the challenge: 'I have been thinking of making a comeback for quite some time. The atmosphere surrounding Powerboat P1, together with the friends I have made, has convinced me that 2010 is the right time to return.

'Two years ago I was technical director of the OSG team and last season I was involved with Baia Attolini, but this time I wanted to enter a team of my own and hopefully we will be successful.'

The hull will be a Fountain 42 Poker Run, powered by a Mercury engine, for whom Schiano is the biggest dealer in Europe: 'I am very excited to see how we will perform in race conditions, and I'm especially looking forward to racing with Giuseppe. We raced a few weeks ago in Napoli and achieved second and third placed finishes so we already have a good understanding, but obviously there is still a lot of work to do ahead of Croatia.'
