.Siegfried Greve has admitted that his Searex Racing Team has plenty to work on in the close season after the German outfit finished bottom of the standings in the Evolution-class in then 2009 Powerboat P1 World Championship.
'Do I hope to be back next year?' asks the Hamburg-born driver. 'Of course I do!
'I told the Powerboat P1 website last month that we will improve and we will do so. We showed over the weekend in Sicily that we have the performance, the boat and the pilots, particularly on the opening lap of Saturday's Sprint race.
'But even though we started very fast, it is clear we have to work on a lot of the technical issues. This is why we have suffered this year.
'For example, we had an electrical problem with the ignition cord during Sunday's Endurance and it must be our aim to work to make sure this does not happen again in 2010. We will work hard on it.'
Despite finishing 137 points behind sixth placed #10 Cigarette Smash Poker, Greve is adamant he has the 'perfect' team to challenge for podium positions on a consistent basis next season.
'Our team is absolutely perfect now and everyone is extremely motivated. We may have had a poor season but there is always next year and next year we will try from the first event to the last to get better and better.
Greve added: 'But if you look at the tables then we are bottom of the championship which is not nice and something we have to improve upon. It is the worst season we have had.'
On the events themselves, Greve reserved nothing but praise for Powerboat P1's Management.
'The highlight of the season for me were the events themselves. Istanbul and Sweden were absolutely perfect, with a lot of fun thrown in too. The organisers deserve plenty of credit for their work.'
