Searex throttleman Gino Passchier completed a hat-trick of awards for Powerboat P1 pilots this week after winning the 2009 De Haan Sports Personality of the Year.

Following in the footsteps of Aaron Ciantar and Pierre Colpin, Passchier staved off stiff competition from one of Belgium's top female volleyball teams, as well as his country's best international referee to win the award.

'I want to dedicate this trophy to Sigi and Susanne Greve, who made it possible for us to race in 2009,' said Passchier. 'I have invested a lot of time and effort into powerboating racing, so I know this award isn't just for me, it is for the entire Belgian powerboating community.'

As voted by the De Haan jury board for sport, Gino, who received his trophy from the mayor of De Haan, Christine Beirens and consul of sports, Peter Breemersch, believes the SEAREX team, together for its third season in a row can push for honours in 2010.

The all-new SEAREX hull will be presented in front of big crowds at the D?sseldorf Boatshow in Germany next week before the team steps up its preparation for the season opener in Croatia on April 18-20.
