In Powerboat P1 news, Jan Falkowski is refusing to rest on his laurels despite his team holding a healthy 75-point lead going into the final Grand Prix of the Sea in Sicily next month.

The #47 Silverline crew of Falkowski and Drew Langdon have been a model of consistency throughout their maiden season competing in the Evolution-class having scored points in every round of 2009.

And throttleman Falkowski is delighted with the team's progress thus far having made the long-awaited switch from SuperSport in the close season.

'The season has gone very well. We were obviously planning to do well but this season has gone better than expected. Changing a boat is a long process and we did not have much time to test the boat ahead of the first race in Malta, no more than a couple of days.

'This is an ongoing project - it is difficult if you haven't bought a ready-to-race boat package. We have had to make quite a lot of changes to our boat - it is 15 years old so it is a fair process.'

He continued: 'The speed is slowly getting there. Gaining the additional speed once you get to a certain point is so much harder the higher you go. The boat was runnin fairly well in Gothenburg - we just hope it holds well together for the last round of the season.'

Falkowski admitted he is wary that the likes of the in-form #88 SNAV OSG can still take the overall Championship title in Sicily.

'The aim is to try and get as many points for the Championship as is possible. We will be aiming for a top three podium position in Sicily to get points not only the Championship but for the Grand Prix of the Sea too.

He added: 'I don't believe the Championship will be decided until the chequered flag in Sunday's Endurance race in Sicily - it is that close. We will definitely be pushing as hard as we can and going for the best possible results in both races.'

Gothenburg was a city enjoyed by all of the Silverline entourage. 'It was great. It was a different style of course, very challenging indeed. I loved racing around the islands as opposed to the majority of offshore races. It was a new venue, a new place for me to visit and we took a good look round the city on Monday. Gothenburg is a beautiful city.'

Silverline sit top of the Evolution-class standings with 646 points from SNAV OSG in second. #10 Cigarette Smash lie in third with 542 points.
