NSW Maritime today issued a safety alert to boaters following a boat fire in the Tweed River today. At 2pm, a 10m motor cruiser caught fire on its mooring at Fingal Head, Tweed River. A man and a woman were on board the vessel when the fire began after they started the petrol engines. They entered the water and were picked up by two separate vessels - a canoe and an open runabout and taken to shore.
